"My
volunteer work at the WOC has undeniably been one of the most
inspiring and gratifying experiences of my life. The atmosphere
of the center, its wonderful staff, and the challenging and
stimulating assignments that I performed have invaluably and
indescribably affected me, changed me and educated me."

Volunteering at Women's Opportunity Center
|
Women's Opportunity Center began 30 years ago
in a kitchen by women who wanted to make a difference. They first met as a support group for
themselves but as more women were drawn in they began to organize and offer more concrete
services. We have grown and changed over the years but still have the mission to make
life better, one woman at a time.
|
 |
| Since our inception, volunteers have been
the lifeblood of the Women's Opportunity Center, providing critical support to staff and offering up their
special talents to the participants. Volunteers provide a range and depth of experience that help make our
center so special. We couldn't do it without you.
Volunteers are used in a wide range of areas, including:
- Helping at the front desk, answering phones and greeting participants
- Being a computer tutor or assisting during computer classes
- Organizing fundraisers, special events and clothing drives
- Helping at Seconds on Court, our training boutique at the Mary Durham House
- Doing mock interviews
- Presenting a special workshop
What will you get?
- Immense satisfaction at participating in something that is bigger than you
- Experience that can add skills to your resume
- An internship experience to enhance your education program
- Networking connections
Whatever your special talent, we want to hear from you!
